2. Installation of GXMame

2.1 Requirements

2.2 Compilation and/or Installation

For most of systems, these instructions should allow to compile and install GXMame without problem, if any, you can read the INSTALL file include in the GXMame package.

from the source

First of all, check that you have the latest source at http://gxmame.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

then uncompact it:

tar xvzf gxmame-version.tar.gz

change to that directory:

cd gxmame-version

run the configuration file:

./configure

If you're using `csh' on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure' instead to prevent `csh' from trying to execute `configure' itself.

you can pass several parameters to the configure script:

run the make file to build the program:

make

install the program

make install

You may need to be root to execute this step.

From the source-rpm

Check that you have the latest rpm-source at http://gxmame.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

build it:

rpm --rebuild gxmame-version.src.rpm

install it

rpm -Uvh /path_to_your_RPM_build_directory/your_arch/gxmame-version.your_arch.rpm

where your arch is your computer architecture (i386/i586/k6...)

From the rpm binary

Check that you have the latest rpm-binary at http://gxmame.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

install it

rpm -Uvh gxmame-version.i586.rpm

From the debian package

Check that you have the latest debian package at http://gxmame.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

dpkg -i gxmame-version.deb

if you download the file from GXMame website or

apt-get install gxmame

if you have a sourcefile providing GXMame.

2.3 Installation of other files

You may want to download and install other files to enhance the visual of GXMame.

Art Files

You can put these files into another directories but you will need to change paths from GXMame directories window.
